Gtechniq

JanPWgtechnic

If you’re looking to do more than just create a water-repellent surface for your windscreen, but maybe also breathe some fresh life into tired glasswork, this Gtechniq kit is perfect.

Not only does it include a bottle of Gtechniq’s G1 Clear Vision Smart Glass product, but also its G2 Residue Remover and G4 Nano Glass Polish. As such, it’s said to be ideal for BMWs with older glass.

The kit is from car care shop The Ultimate Finish. You can get in touch by calling 0845 838 1200.

You can also check out the rest of the Gtechniq range online at: www.theultimatefinish.co.uk

Halfords

As well as stocking rain repellents from several other car care specialists, Halfords also sells its own brand product to help keep your windscreen clean and clear over winter.

Just like Rain-X, Halfords’ Rain Repellent helps all the exterior glass on your BMW to repel rain, sleet, snow and frost for optimum visibility in wet conditions. It also resists the build-up of insects and grime to ensure, according to Halfords, a crystal-clear windscreen.

What’s more, as 250ml bottles are priced only £5.99 it’s slightly more affordable than its rival Rain-X too. You can buy yours from any of Halfords nationwide stores or online at: www.halfords.com

Mer

JanPWMer

According to car care specialist Mer, you can’t avoid winter weather but, with its rain repellent Rainaway, you can reduce its effects.

Rainaway has been specially created to prevent rainwater sticking to your windscreen and car windows. What’s more, because you’re not using your windscreen wipers all the time you’ll be saving wear and tear on your wiper blades. Mer also adds that applying Mer Rainaway regularly through cold weather will help you remove frost more easily from exterior glass.

Rainaway comes in 500ml bottles, which retail at £8.99. Find out more by visiting: www.merproducts.com

Rain-X

JanPWrainx

The term ‘Rain-X’ has become synonymous with windscreen rain repellents thanks to its reputation for dramatically improving wet weather driving visibility.

Apply Rain-X’s Rain Repellent to your windscreen (or any other exterior glass for that matter) and rain drops will fly off your screen while driving. It’s also been designed to help remove frost, ice, salt, mud and bugs.

200ml bottles of Rain-X retail at £6.99 and are available from all good supermarkets and motor factors. You can find out more about Rain-X by visiting www.rainx.co.uk, which also includes handy tips and info on how to properly apply Rain-X so you can get the most out of every drop.

Spautopia

JanPWSautopia

Sick of straining your eyes to see through a mucky windscreen? Well, Spautopia reckons it has the answer – One Shot is an effective screenwash, so-called because one concentrated shot is enough to create up to five litres of screenwash.

One Shot promises no smears and is apparently perfect for when you’re being splattered by the grease and salt from winter-beaten roads.

What’s more, according to Bromoco the more you use One Shot, the more microscopic One Shot particles will attach to the screen and wipers. This apparently makes the product more effective each time you use it.

Best of all though, it’s small enough to be easily stored in the glovebox for emergencies.

One Shot, available from Spautopia (www.spautopia.co.uk), comes in three options: 100ml bottles are £1.99 each, you can get a triple pack for £5.50 or a six-shooter set for £10.99.
