Corbeau

SeptPWCorbeau

Corbeau has thoroughly updated its range of motorsport seats for 2011. Obviously, we don’t have space to cover them all here, so instead we decided to pick our favourite example for stripped down BMWs.

The new Pro-Series is a seat that Corbeau reckons will soon represent the preferred choice of motorsport teams and enthusiasts who are short on cabin space. After being updated, it now boasts the latest in cushion design and stitching pattern for strength, plus the HANS comfort zone.

The Pro-Series seat is available in a choice of colours, plus either a Kevlar or carbon composite. Readers can expect to pay from £449 for Corbeau’s Pro- Series seats (subframes are available separately, priced £112 each).

So, if you’re interested in a bit of German tailored comfort, you can find out more by visiting www.corbeau-seats.com or by calling the Corbeau team on 01424 85499.

Bride

SeptPWBride

The Bride GIAS full bucket seat has very quickly established itself as a must-have addition for anyone’s dream BMW track car.

Its lightweight and highly rigid aluminium frame is mated to a carbon- Kevlar composite shell with a reclining action. It combines all the qualities of both street and track race seats to be one of the most versatile offerings on the market.

Now for the part you probably don’t want to hear – Bride GIAS Low Max seats are currently available from Nengun Performance (www.nengun.com) priced around £1,045 each.

You’ve got to be really serious about your project or track BMW to install them, but if you do have deep enough pockets for these amazing seats we doubt very much you’ll be disappointed.

Recaro

SeptPWRecaro

Recaro claims that the Sportster CS is the ultimate sport seat, developed for those who refuse to compromise on either functionality or comfort.

Don’t let the sleek and subtle styling fool you though. According to Recaro this reclining race shell is of a hybrid construction made from steel and polymer materials including carbon, Kevlar and GRP.

Although these seats use a complex blend of materials, the nicely sculpted design is relatively simple. The backrest and headrest are of a one-piece construction, but as the headrest is fully upholstered and the backrest includes well-defined side bolsters, these seats offer maximum support exactly where you need it.

Full details on the Recaro Sportster CS seats can be found at www.recaro.co.uk, or if you’re looking to buy try www.recaro-seats.co.uk.

Prices vary depending on whether you’re after the artista black trim (£820 per seat), half leather and suede (£845) or full leather (£1,050). Side air bags are available too, but expect to pay extra.

Sparco

SeptPWSparco

The Pro ADV fibreglass seat takes many cues from Sparco’s already successful Pro 2000 seat, but also boasts large head and shoulder protection.

The fibreglass shell offers a strong construction, but is still relatively lightweight (approximately 11kg). The Pro ADV also offers effective side support and its non-slip fabric helps keep shoulders in place while driving.

The seat is self-extinguishing and is available in three colours: black, blue, and red. It’s available through a number of channels, including Rallynuts (www.rallynuts.com) where seats are priced £443 each. You can find out more by visiting Sparco’s website at www.sparco.it/en/.

Tillett

SeptPWTillett

Here’s another one for those who are really serious about having the ultimate Bavarian track weapon. After all, the main selling point of the Tillett B2 seat is that it weighs just 2.75kg.

Besides being ultra-lightweight, the back shape and low seating angle is so comfortable that it apparently does not require any padding (although if that sounds a little farfetched, optional suede panels and side mounts are available).

The sides of the seat allow for either five- or sixpoint full racing harnesses, or a three-point lap belt to be used. The B2, along with other seats from the Tillett family, can be purchased thorough Demon Tweeks, where prices start from £1,109 (the subframes for these seats are £90 each). Buy online from www.demon-tweeks.co.uk or by calling 0844 815 8600
