The BMW 318d ES Saloon has once again fought off strong competition to be crowned ‘Best Executive Car’ at the What Car? Green Car Awards 2011.

The 318d is one of BMW’s most fuel efficient and least polluting models; it records a combined consumption figure of 62.8mpg and CO2 emissions of 119g/km, while at the same time it’s capable of a 0-62mph time of 9.1 seconds.

Chas Hallett, What Car? Editor-in-Chief said: “The BMW 318d ES qualifies for the lowest, 13 per cent, company car tax band for diesel cars and can average 62.8mpg. It also costs a measly £30 a year to tax. It is equipped with a great 2.0-litre diesel engine that pulls strongly and it offers a great premium driving experience. It grips strongly and has excellent poise.”
