BMW has revealed its latest revamp of the X6 Sports Activity Coupé, which will hit the showrooms from Spring 2012.

Since its market launch three years ago, BMW has sold more than 150,000 models, which far exceeded what was expected. The latest incarnation now has a more striking front and rear to bring it in line with other facelifted models that have BMW’s new kidney grille shape. The new X6 is also the first vehicle in its segment to be fitted optionally with adaptive LED headlamps and represents a new interpretation of the brand’s hallmark twin circular headlamps. At the rear there’s newly designed lights with LED technology.

Paint options have been extended to now consist of two non-metallic and eight metallic colours including Marrakech Brown metallic (seen here). The standard equipment range of the new X6 also includes 19-inch alloys and for the X6 xDrive 50i, new double-spoke designs in bi-colour.

The standard leather trim Nevada is now also available in Vermilion Red. The exclusive nappa leather option includes a choice between Black and Ebony White.

An additional model – the BMW M Performance Automobile BMW X6 M50d – sets a new benchmark for pulling power and efficiency with a newly-developed 381 bhp inline six-cylinder diesel engine. Its unique triple turbocharging gives a maximum torque of 740 Nm and an acceleration rate of zero to 100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds. What’s more, the latest X6 xDrive 30d can now be fitted with optional BMW BluePerformance Technology from Spring 2012 to further reduce nitrogen oxide in the exhaust gases.

BMW M has also worked its magic on the X6 and delivered a V8 petrol engine with 555 bhp and six-speed M Sport automatic transmission. In all other X6 model versions there is an eight-speed sports transmission with paddle shift as standard.

Dynamic Performance Control is a standard feature in all versions of the latest X6 as an element of the intelligent all-wheel drive system xDrive. For additional enhancement, Active Steering (not available for the X6 M50d or X6M) and Adaptive Drive (as standard for the M50d and X6M) are offered with electronically controlled dampers and roll stabilisation.
